Last minute homemade birthday gift for dad

Last minute homemade birthday gift for dad

We all know how hard is to shop for men right? It's a real mission impossible. Especially for my dad. He always says " he has everything, I shouldn't spend a penny on him because my love is more than enough".
Ahh, it's all sweet but let's be honest the end of the day everyone should get a present on their special day. Regardless of what budget you have.
After all who doesn't love to receive presents? I've never ever met everyone...

When my parents stayed over, they got way too excited how to spend all their pounds, so they ended up around 70kg overweight in their luggage. (I'm blaming them for my shopping addiction )
Well, we needed to figure out a way to send all this over to Hungary without breaking the bank.
The only way was for that by sending it over like a parcel.
Due to the large overweight, I needed to figure out a super light and quick present.
Since I was a kid, my father loved (or probably pretended to like) when I gave him homemade presents.
So I decided to make his birthday gift this year.

My mum loves Poundland, and as soon as they arrived in the UK, I have to take her there.
We ended up going possibly almost every pound shops around town where I  found this fantastic magnetic photo paper in size A4 (2 sheets) for only a 1£.
I'm sure you all know the feeling when you see something for a bargain price, so you end up buying it thinking, it would be great for something in the future. So I  purchased one for myself...
I have three sisters-in-law, and they all like to be creative, so it's quite hard to keep up with any homemade presents.
They have a lot of personalised items around the house like calendars, keyrings, mugs, mousepad etc., but they didn't have any customised magnets.
Just before my parents came over, they bought a brand new fridge, and the old magnets were kind of torn away so I thought it would be nice to make them some new ones.

Follow these super easy steps to create your own magnets

Step one: Create an account on Canva

Don't worry its free! Also, Canva is super easy to use for anything you may like to design in the future. Definitely worth to have an account with them. Click this link to sign up.

Step two: Select a design and upload your photos

The photopapers I used are size A4, I picked the A4 design in Canva. I wanted to print as many images as I could, so I went with the Grids option.
You can find that under "Elements" on the left side in Canva.
There are so many possibilities under grids, have a browse around and when you are happy with your choice just upload your photos.

How to Upload photos on Canva:

Click left-hand side "Uploads", upload your own design or you can either drag the picture in.

Step three: Insert the magnetic paper and print

Now time for the fun part.
Remove the standard printing paper from the printer and load the printable magnetic sheets into the printer in the same way that we would load standard printer papers.
Always use the highest resolution available.
After the prints are out, leave them to dry for few minutes.
(Reason: because inks need to dry before touching the print)
Once the printings are dry, you can cut them to make your small fridge magnets using scissors.

Voila! Easiest DIY present for only 1£.

Love to see what design you come up with, share it with us in the comment below.

See you next time!
